The reserves were let loose this weekend as Jaff was acting manager against Dunno. Both sides were fighting off relegation with 4 teams dropping Res A this season. We were in front after a minute, Chris Rigby's cross
finding the net via a Dunnington defender. We were playing some good football and dominating the chances, Chris Rigby and Anton linking up well down the left flank, but were caught out by a long ball which their stand striker put past
Seamus. We bounced back though and we were soon in the lead again up after a cross from Wild Bill found the top corner. Anton was fouled in the box and Fratto put away the resulting penalty. Anton grabbed a goal followed by another from a Shane header
to give us 5-1 lead at the break. We were keen to keep the momentum up and everthing looked good when some Anton trickery was rewarded with an early goal. For some reason though we sat off and Dunnington started to dominate. We conceded
2 goals in quick succession which started some panicking, but Anton completed his hatrick to make the game safe.

The reserves faced a side with a 100% record without either manager but with some great form behind us. Eddy Philips again started at centre back but the back four were soon found out
Malton dominated and raced to a 3-0 lead. We'd created a few chances and had some good shouts for penalties turned down so we knew we weren't out of it. Pie swapped with Fratto and immediatley made an imapact
partnering Anton. We got the upper hand in the second half, and were rewarded when substitute Mark Scoo finished well from close range. New dad Rich Sellars got himself another goal from a corner and suddenly
Malton's record was under threat. As we pressed for an equaliser, a break away Malton goal secured the win - although we did score again with only seconds left.
After superb second half display, we were unlucky to leave with nothing

The reserves faced a Huntington side for the first time this season and were again short of players with the 1sts playing on the same night. Huntington had put out a very strong side but the form
of the resers meant we were more than a match for them. A stand out performance from Eddy Philips at centre back saw us keep a clean sheet for what must be the best result of the season.

The reserves were short of players for a back to back fixture against Dringhouses. Manager Mick Watson donned his boots again as the reserves dropped like flies. Pie mistook Spenner's head for the ball and gave himself an almighty shiner and split Spenners
head open. Watto didn't last much longer before his knee gave up so an injured Mike Noble took to the field but he soon limped off. With many different people standing in for defenders, the reserves were 3-1 down, but managed yet another great comeback victory with
Anton grabbing a hatrick to give us an unlikely win.

The reserves winning run would be put to the test against another side bang in form. Dringhouses had pulled themselves out of the relegation places and started this game the better. It was a real scrappy start, neither side really dominating, but
Dringhouses took the lead after a mix up between keeper Tom and Boaty. We gradually started to play our way into the game, Anton and Fratto having some half chances but we went in at half time 1-0 down. Mick gave us our customery half-time bollocking as
our football was not up to scratch and like last week we were better in the second half. Our pressure paid when Eddy Philips won a penalty which Fratto converted. Both sides then had chances to win it but it finished honours even.

Winning four games on the bounce, the reserves were in yet another relegation battle, this time with Kartiers. Without Eddie Philips and Anton, Chris Rigby started up front with Fratto. Kartiers started the better as we
struggled to get going on a wide pitch. Despite this we managed to take lead with a Jamie Bolton header, but the lead didn't last long. Kartiers took a deserved 2-1 lead and it looked like our winning run would come to an end. To make things worse
keeper Mike pulled up with a thigh problem before half time. All action Boaty went into goal with Jody going on at centre back. Watto tore into his troops at the break and switched Pie and Chris Rigby. After our bollocking and with more of a target man up top we looked better
immediatley but some slack defending let Kartiers in for what seemed like the winner. Our winning streak has brought back our belief though and we rallied back into the game, Rich Sellars slammed a header into the top corner to give us hope. We completely dominated after that - Chris Rigby getting his first of the season with the equaliser and
Pie gave us the lead 10 minutes from the end. Some good work from Fratto found Chris Rigby who did his best to miss from 3 yards, but he got his second and rounded off another fantastic come back win.

Haxby United’s title challenge faltered as they lost 4-3 at struggling Wilberfoss in the York Minster Engineering Football League premier division. With rivals Dunnington and Old Malton St Mary’s in cup action, Haxby failed to take advantage.
After a goalless first half, Wilberfoss took control to lead 3-1 with goals from John Heads and Olly Newby (2). Haxby rallied to level with two minutes remaining, Steve Ward adding to a Chris Dyson brace. However, John Heads nipped in to snatch the points for ’Foss, who are now off the bottom of the table

On a roll, the resers were up against fellow strugglers Panthers on a soaked pitch. Panthers started the better and took a deserved lead with a long range effort. Strangely, this sparked us into life and
we started to dominate, Fratto having a couple of decent chances before striking one into the top corner to level. We then piled on the pressure and went in at half time 3-1 up after another goal from Fratto and one
from Eddie Philips. It was more of the same in the second half - Fratto extended our lead completing his hatrick. Some great solo play from Jaff and Anton should have put us out of sight, but chances went begging and Panthers
grabbed a goal back to make the last twenty minutes more nervous than it should have bee. In the end a 4-2 win has taken us away from the relegation places.

In a largely uneventful game Haxby carved out the more clearcut chances but couldn't get a shot past the huntington goal-keeper. Midway through the second half a thunderous volley from all of 40 yards saw ex Huntington player Gary Mitchinson score what will surely be the goal of the season at haxby.
The game was all but over when Huntington, putting the pressure on Haxby, converted a corner in the dying seconds to earn a 1-1 draw.

Two wins back to back for the resers but this week we were up against title challengers St Johns who hammered us earlier in the season. On the little pitch St Johns didn't have the room we gave them when we played away. The hard work we were putting in was rewarded when Jaff struck one through the keeper from outside the box. The students were always a threat and
had chances to equalise before a cross from Pie found the net via Fratto's head. 2-0 at half time we set about containing St Johns and managed to extend our lead when Chris Drum put Eddie Philips through to score. St Johns found their way back into the game. Their dubious goal caused an outburst from Jody and he was off. Down to ten men and St Johns had their tales up,
A cross struck Boaty on the arm and ref ave a penalty. 3-2 with 5 minutes to go... We managed to hold on to claim another great win!

A tough game for Haxby on a difficult pitch against kartiers and a fairly even start saw Kartiers edge infront when they scored from the spot after 10mins. Haxby totally commanded the game after that and found the equalizer on the half hour when a great through ball by Gary Newton found Steve Ward who slotted the ball home to make it 3 goals in 4 for Haxby.
The second half saw Haxby well in control again and desperate defending saw Kartiers keep the score level. Haxby substitute Chris Dyson who scored a spectacular goal in stoppage time from 25 yards to seal the game and a much deserved win for Haxby.
Goals - Ward, Dyson   M.O.M - Barratt
After our first win of the season, confidence was high going into derby day. The gaffers had their work cut out picking a side out of the 18 resers who turned up. Jaff and Jamie Bolton returned to the side, but we were missing a keeper so Mike Noble had to go in nets.
Wiggy had the better of the early exchanges and took a deserved lead. We were looking rushed and getting pulled over the pitch but a break away saw Fratto through on goal and he equalised. Wiggy continued to dominate and after a lacklustre showing we were down 3-1 at half-time. Watto turned on the hair-dryer and threw on Chris Rigby.
We managed to grab an early goal back through Eddy Philips, and suddenly we started looking like the better side. Another Fratto goal soon after drew us level and we went looking for the winner. Toward the end of the game, Jaff pulled up injured and wanted to come, but with no subs left he went and stood up front. As soon as this happened Fratto played him in and after sitting a couple of Wiggy defenders on their
arses he rolled the ball in off the post to give us a great derby comeback win!

The top two teams in the premier division met in a fiercly contested game with Dunnington going close after 5 mins. The match was end to end but it was Haxby who took the lead on the half hour - a lovely through ball finding Neale Holmes who slipped the ball under the keeper to make it 1-0. Haxby then carved out a few chances but it was Dunnington who hit back with a close effort from chris burgess to
equalise on the stroke of half time. The second half saw the game continue being end to end. Haxby who had the better chances, hitting the inside of the post twice through Holmes and Steve Ward and a late Marc Thompson effort superbly tipped over the bar. The game ended 1-1, a great advert for york league football with some excellent passing and committed tackles from both teams

With a scratch side out, there wasn't much optimism about as the resers faced high flying Bishopthorpe. Eddie Phillips made a welcome return, replacing the injured Des in the centre, with Jason Kelly starting on the right. Bish made the brighter start, catching our defence out on a couple of occasions but the centre back pairing of Jody and Chris Drum
kept Bish at bay. We started getting into the game, Fratto carving out a couple of chances before Billy Ross stung one in off the bar. This may have been the first lead we've had this season and we extended it further when Fratto struck home. 2-0 at half-time and we were looking good. Jason Kelly was having a field day down the right and he should have made the game
safe but was stopped one on one with the keeper. A third goal wasn't long in coming which relaxed everyone, despite us conceding 5 mins from the end.

It was unlucky 13 for Haxby after 12 straight wins as we were comprehensively beaten 4-1 by Copmanthorpe who always find the going easy when they travel to Haxby having won 7-1 at Ethel Ward the previous season. They found themselves 3-0 ahead at the half time interval as we had little to show in the opening half.
A chris dyson strike wasn't enough for Haxby; even the introduction of free-scoring Darren Brandon, who returned from Tadcaster Albion, couldn't get united back into the game and it was Cop who caught United on the break to make it 4-1 and United's first defeat of the season.
Goals - Dyson,   M.O.M - Leeming
The reserves finally had a game! After 2 months of games called off we were up against the league leaders and out rustiness soon showed as Old Malton took a quick 2-0 lead. We then started to settle and created some good chances that we couldn't finish - Mark Scoo, Anton and Fratto all coming close. We ended the first half
the better side and started well in the second but again couldn't take our chances. Things then went from bad to worse as skipper Des tore knee ligaments in a challenge, shortly after which we conceded a third. Malton hung on to a clean sheet, but we can take positives out of a decent performace against this year's champions elect.

After a two week break from the league, Haxby had the chance to claw back some points on Dunnington against Poppleton. In the early exchanges Haxby were the better side and went close on a number of occasions, but it was Pop who went in front after 15mins with a close range effort.
Haxby hit back almost immediately after a Gaz Newton effort was well saved, only for the ball to fall to Dyson who calmly finished from 10yards. Shortly after, Haxby went ahead when a corner was turned in by ex-poppy defender James Barratt. Haxby went on to carve out numerous chances, but it
took a well taken Newton free kick which Jon James headed home to make it 3-1 at the break. The second half saw Haxby dominate and after a great move down the left Stu Ogden crossed for Ash Hill to volley home from close. Last week's mauling was a wake up call to the resers, and we had another tough test against Dunnington who ran us close last year. Mike Noble was up against his former club and we all were determined to finally get our season going. Boosted by Danny Snaith and Daz Brandon, Watto decided to take matters into his own hands and
started on the right of midfield. With Seamus away, Gaz Dicko returned to the nets with Anton partnering Fratto up top. We started well, dominating possesion, but good chances fell to both sides with both keepers making good saves. The same defence as last week looked strong as we went into half time 0-0. We were determined that this
was the chance to get our first three points and we started the second half the better, and took a deserved lead when a Watto(!) cross found the net. After that, Dunnington stepped up the pressure, but we still were creating half chances. The equalizer came though from a cross that wasn't dealt with. It was a shame not to leave with all three
points, but it was a much better performance against a decent side.

Things are going from bad to worse for the resers at the moment. This was the worst result in years as we were hammered by a decent St Johns side. We created chances this week and were well
in the game, their keeper making some good saves in the first half. We were getting over-ran at the back though, and it wasn't long till we were behind. Defensive errors led to a 4-0 half-time score. A good old
bollocking from the gaffer sent us back out, and finally we started to compete. New signing Anton came on and bagged a beauty with his first touch! The game was put to bed just after that though, as last man Rich Sellars
cut down their centre forward, and they scored from the resulting free kick. With 10 men and a long time to play, things didn't look good and St Johns made us pay. We did however manage to get another goal, Anton getting his second

This North Riding Cup match was settled with penalties after Haxby had fought back from 3-0 down, to finish extra time at 4-4. Despite Tom Hewer stopping a penalty, a couple of misses sent Haxby out.
After a moral boosting win last week, the resers were desperate for league points and were confident of picking them up against a Kartiers side who we beat twice last season. Andy Mac, Tomo and Jody returned to the defence, with Chris Drum keeping his midfield slot.
On a windy day, chances on the little pitch were few and far between. Seamus was rarely troubled as we took the upper hand, but we couldn't create any clear cut chances against a determined defence. We started the second half well, dominating possesion but, again, didn't have any good chances to score. With our pressure
building, we failed to deal with a long ball. Seamus' clearance was charged down and the ball ended up in our net. Shortly after, a misjudged back pass handed Kartiers another. Two mistakes, and we were 2-0 down after dominating posession. As we pushed for a goal, Kartiers grabbed another goal. A really disappointing result, it

After an improved performance last week, the resers were taking on Aviva in the North Riding Cup. Little was known about Aviva, they turned up with 10 men, so we were fairly confident of progressing to the next round. Seamus was back in Nets, with Sellars and Mike centre backs and Des returning to the

Some good saves by Seamus and some last ditch defending kept us within one, but we weren't threatening the Aviva goal often enough. 1-0 at half-time and things started to improve as 10 man Aviva tired.

After last weeks defeat in the Junior Cup, the resers were entered for the North Riding cup and were drawn against Guisborough, who we knew nothing about. We welcomed back Tomo, Scoo, Pie and Jaff but were without
Dranny. Mo and Taylor led the line, Mo and Scoo getting on the score-sheet early as we played some good stuff with a howling wind behind us. Captain Des's legs, who were celebrating their 43rd birthday, couldn't cope with
the conditions and he limped off, replaced by Fratto. Jaff and Scoo were winning the battle in the middle and Mo added another goal to give us 3-0 lead at half-time. Against the wind in the second half, we were pushed back by Guisborough who

United, though, took the lead after 20 mins through a well taken ash hill goal. The game was still up for grabs with both sides carving out chances but United should have made the game safe when Brandon put us 2-0 up with a close range finish.
Instantly, Haxby took the foot off the pedal and were punished when an error let the 'houses striker in to score. 2-1 it remained for the rest of the game but we were very lucky to come out of this game with anything, especially a win,
after a below par performance against a team we beat 7-1 just a month ago.

After crashing out of the Reserve cup a few weeks ago, we were drawn against Easingwold in the Junior Cup, a side who we have always struggled against and we knew they had a strong side. Despite missing a few players to Jaff's wedding (congrats!)
we still had a strong side which showed from the start - Jimmy Scott giving us a well deserved lead. We never kept the momentum going though and some poor defending gifted Easingwold an equaliser. The first half was fairly even after that, we struggled
to create good chances and were guilty of giving the ball away too easily. At half time it was 1-1, but that didn't last long as far post header put us 2-1 down. After this Easingwold sat off and we started to dominate - Rich Sellars bundling the ball over line
from a corner to equalise. Another defensive mistake led to an Easingwold break away and we were behind again. After pushing for an equaliser we were caught out. We piled on the pressure and Dranny netted with 10 minutes left. More chances slipped away though and
it finished in a 4-3 defeat. An improvement from last time but if things don't improve it could be a long hard season in Reserve A...

Four straight wins for Haxby but we struggled to get out of second gear against bitter rivals Wiggington. A good crowd down at Ethels saw a slow start but on the stroke of half time Terry Taylor struck from 12 yards to make it 1-0 at the break.
10mins into the second half Brandon struck to make it 2-0 and made it 9 goals in just 4 starts. Haxby were in control and the game looked easy, and on 60mins following a keeper mistake Gaz Newton found the net from 22yards. Wigginton were never put to bed
and some sloppy defense handed them a goal. A break from league action next week sees haxby go to Dringhouses in the league cup

After 3 successive wins, Haxby were confident of a win, but T&L have improved this season and with a few good results it looked a stern test. Haxby started brightly but huffed and puffed until Marc Thompson showed some quality to swerve a low shot
past the T&L keeper from 20 yards. After that United piled on the pressure but were undone with a long range effort that flew past united no.1 Hewer, ht 1-1. The second half was all one way traffic with united totally dominant. A further 4 goals were added through
Neale Holmes, Terry Taylor and a Ash Hill double to leave united sitting pretty at the top of the league. Wigginton next week will be a big test for what is proving to be the best Haxby side we've had in years

This was the Reser's first competitive fixture after an up and down pre-season. Hopes were high of progression in the Reserve Cup as we were against a Reserve C side. We were however missing a few players, but with a big squad
that was no excuse for what followed... Despite dominating possession we looked toothless. The passing was poor and there wasn't enough committment to beat a side who were far hungrier for the win. 3-0 down at half time. we had hit the bar
and created some good chances, and there keeper had been sent off, so we knew we had a chance if we started playing. Mark Scoreby grabbed a goal to give us hope, but we conceded shortly after that which sealed the defeat. It finished 5-1, a real
wake up call for the Reserve A champions...

Haxby went into this game after 2 consecutive wins and in free scoring mood, but this game, against the champions, would test any title ambitions. Those ambitions were proved right, as Haxby's hard work won them the game.
The starting line up was kept, with a bench of Jon James, Danny Snaith, Andy Barrass and Ash Hill - all of which could easily get in any other premier side. Haxby started well and dominated every department, it wasn't long before
Gaz Newton netted. The game opened up a bit, and and a fantastic save from keeper Tom kept haxby in the lead, with Josh making a sliding tackle to deny Panthers a certain goal. On 30mins Newton made it 2-0 after good work from Terry Taylor
and Neale Holmes. Two outstanding saves from Tom in the 2nd half kept the clean sheet, and the win was secured when Newton grabbed his hatrick leaving Panthers shell shocked, missing Daz Brandon's fire power.

Another great win for Haxby as they continued to smash goals in for fun after the 5-1 demolition of Dunnington. Daz Brandon followed up his hatrick with 5 wonder strikes to make it 8 goals in just 2 games
following his transfer from Panthers. He's half way to last season's total after just 2 league games so good going. Haxby totally dominated the game creating numerous chances and really should have had more
goals although the best strike of the night came from Dringhouses - a 35 yard thunderbolt from Chris Storey, a transfer target during the summer... All the new signings continued to play well; Jamie Bolton looked
solid at heart of the defence, Gary Newton had a superb first half, and Josh Leeming continues to shine after been given his chance by the gaffer. Tom Hewer looks solid in goal after taking over the No1 spot, making a few
good saves and marshalling his defence. Neale Holmes also scored a fantastic goal with a jinxing run then calmly rounded two players and slipped the ball underneath the keeper, final score 7-1.
