Not even a superb hat trick from Lions Chris Rigby could save a battling Haxby from going out of yet another Cup. Lions started poorly going down 2 - 0 inside 10 minutes but quickly rallied to take a 3 - 2 lead. However, Acomb Celtic managed to grab another couple to go in to the break 4 - 3 up.
Trev tried to rally the troops at half time and stressed we had to defend better as a team if we were going to get anything out the game. And on that note we went out quicky conceded a sloppy 5th and were well and truly up against it! Now we probably wasn't at our best and we were missing a keeper (sorry Tall!) but some decisions did go against us. Most notably a dodgy sending off and then the allowing of a goal only to change his mind and disallow said goal! I'd love be able to change my mind if I did something sh1t (which happens often) but us players are not allowed the luxury and neither should refs.
On reflection we probably deserved to be beaten but we know we can play better and a title challenge beckons.
Other things to note - Changing rooms had music playing in them and it was quite refreshing to take a dump whilst Tina was belting out simply the best, it really got me going. Oh and it was well windy.
Lions Goals : Rigby 3, ? - M.O.M : Acomb's Ref, puely for his comedy value
