A bare 13 lions turned up on what can only be described as "artic" conditions. Ethel’s was on the verge of flooding and the wind was howling. However the ref was apparently short of a bob or 2 and told the moaning players that we would "give it a go!" 11 brave lions took to the field with 2 injured players as subs; Stuart Baker with the good old dead (its way to cold for me) leg and David Thompson with a very serious stomach bug but still willing to do everything he could for the team (as long as the pitch remained within running distance of the toilet).
The lions got off to a flyer with new signing Adam Wash capitalising on a rare keeper mistake to expertly slot into the bottom corner. It was then the lions top scorers turn to shine and Peter Dransfield fired the quickest hat-trick in history to make it 4-0 within 20mins. Adam Wash then notched his seconds and a windswept lions team came in at half time 5-0 to the good.
the second half was a bit of a none event with vaults nicking a couple of 2nd half goals back to add a bit of respect to the score line but the back 4 was solid and the midfield as hard working as ever and the lions notched up there 4th straight league win against a serious title contenders much to the delight of the massive crowd of 4!!
